No Prison Overcrowding Here - An Open Invite to Governor Jerry Brown

I follow online the recent problem rocking the United States: prison overcrowding. It's so bad in California that Gov. Brown lost his case and now the state shall release early 10,000 dangerous felons: pedophiles, murderers, drug pushers, rapists. Wow. Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm glad I'm thousands of miles away.

Here are a few facts to make you shit your pants:

The United States has the largest total prison population and highest incarceration rate of any nation in the world. We have less than five percent of the world’s population, yet we have over 25 percent of the world’s prison population. The United States has more people in prison than in Spain, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, Germany, England, the Philippines, Vietnam, Poland, Thailand, Mexico, Canada, Chile, Australia, Brazil, Iran, Pakistan and India combined. The US has more prisoners than the entire populations of Cyprus and Estonia combined.*

I was under the impression that New York State as well suffers with overcrowding issues in prisons. I live near a town beleaguered by criminals. We got gangs, we got murders, hell, we got it all: the highest unemployment rates and the highest HIV rates in the state. Mighty impressive! I thought the county prison was overflowing, but I've seen the light in light of what recently happened.

In a nutshell, it was a pissing contest between two fucked up individuals, a boyfriend/girlfriend, both upper middle-class middle-aged people who broke up and then slammed each other with court orders of protection for years on end. The boyfriend's a honcho in the community so he did whatever he could to ensure he could get at the girlfriend. He succeeded.

The girlfriend, from phoning him 50 times in 5 years, is now in county jail with criminals. She weighs 110 lbs, never spent a day of her life breaking any laws as a good little housewife and must spend 90 days in prison for 50 phone calls. Several of us were denied visitation rights.

It makes sense to sentence her to 90 days in prison for 50 phone calls. I'm sure they made room for her by releasing early a murderer or drug pusher or rapist or pedophile because of the magnitude of her crime.

SHE DESERVES TO BE INCARCERATED FOR BREAKING A COURT ORDER OF PROTECTION BY MAKING PHONE CALLS. IT IS A HEINOUS CRIME AND SHOULD BE PUNISHED BY THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW.

AND MURDERERS, RAPISTS, DRUG PUSHERS, PEDOPHILES DESERVE EARLY RELEASE TO MAKE ROOM FOR SUCH A CRIMINAL! HELL, THEY SHOULDN'T SERVE ANY TIME WHATSOEVER, FOR THEIR CRIMES PALE IN COMPARISON TO 50 PHONE CALLS IN 5 YEARS.

Well, Governor Jerry Brown - have you ever investigated doing barter with prisons in my neck of the woods? If they can send this woman to jail for 90 days, well, seems there's room for more.
